The Natural Gemstone Cushion 7×5 Prong-set Necklace is the larger of our two cushion necklaces, and it carries one stone. A cushion is a square with its corners rounded off, so it reads softer than an octagon and fuller than a pear cut to the same millimetres. At 7 x 5mm it sits as a statement stone rather than an everyday one. Made to order in our Bangkok studio.
Details and materials
The stone is 7 x 5mm. Four prongs hold it with small claws and leave the back of the gem open, which is why a transparent stone looks brighter here than it would in a closed setting. Carat weight is not quoted because coloured stones differ in density and millimetres do not convert straight into weight, so two stones the same size can weigh differently.
Every gemstone is natural. Sapphire, ruby and emerald come eye clean at A to AA, and semi-precious material is loupe clean AA to AAA. Setting and chain are 925 sterling silver with a 0.5 micron plating in silver, yellow gold, rose gold or rhodium white, which holds its colour about 3 years. Rhodium asks least of you. Solid gold in 9K, 14K or 18K is made to order and never plated. Chains are 38cm and 40cm with a 3cm extender. 7 to 10 working days at the bench, free delivery inside Thailand, tracked by FedEx, DHL or EMS abroad, 3 year warranty.

This one or the 6 x 4? Same shape, same setting, same stone choices. The 7 x 5 is the statement version and the 6 x 4 is the quieter one you can wear daily. If you are buying for someone who wears little jewellery, the 6 x 4 is usually the safer gift. Message us if you want help deciding.
Plated silver or solid gold? Plated silver is the everyday choice and costs a fraction as much. Solid gold is the one you hand on. Both use the same stone and the same setting.
