The Vertical Bezel-Set Birthstone Necklace is one stone in a metal rim, hanging upright. There is nothing else to it. That is deliberate. Every other necklace here asks you to choose an arrangement, and this one asks you to choose a colour. It is the piece we recommend to people buying their first proper necklace, and the one that gets worn most. Made to order in our Bangkok studio.
Details and materials
One natural gemstone, wrapped in a metal rim instead of held by prongs. A bezel keeps the edges of the stone covered, which is why we point first-time buyers at it. It hangs upright, so the long axis runs down rather than across.
The stone is an octagon cut at 7 x 5mm, roughly 1.00ct. That is an approximate figure, as a sapphire of those dimensions outweighs a topaz of the same size.
The list runs from garnet and amethyst through to emerald, ruby and sapphire. Those three come eye clean at A to AA, while the semi-precious range is loupe clean, AA to AAA. Carat weight depends on which colour you land on, since stones of one size do not all weigh the same. Message us and we will give you a figure.
Pick the chain at 38cm, 40cm, 45cm or 50cm, each with a 3cm extender. Chain and bezel are 925 sterling silver with a 0.5 micron plated finish in silver, yellow gold, white gold (rhodium) or rose gold, good for roughly 3 years of colour. Rhodium is the one to take for least upkeep. Solid gold in 9K, 14K or 18K is made to order. From 2,400 THB, ready in 7 to 10 working days.
