The Two Natural Gemstones Ring in Octagon and Marquise is the loudest pairing we make. A marquise is a long oval pointed at both ends, and it is cut to look bigger than its actual weight, so it covers more finger than any other stone here. Next to the flat calm of the octagon it looks almost theatrical. Buy it if you want the ring noticed. Set by hand in our Bangkok studio.

Solid 925 sterling silver with 1-micron plating in yellow gold, rose gold or white gold (rhodium). Both points of the marquise are set down into the metal where they cannot chip or snag, with clean edges for daily wear.

Questions, answered
What is a marquise cut? A long oval that comes to a point at both ends, sometimes called a navette. It has more surface area than a round stone of the same weight, which is why it looks larger.
Will the points catch on things? No. Points are the weak spot on a marquise, so we set both tips below the surface of the metal. They are protected and they will not snag.
How long does it take? Usually 7 to 10 days, made to your ring size.

Details and materials
The marquise is the reason to pick this one over the round pairing. It is a long oval that comes to a point at each end, and because the cut spreads weight sideways it covers more finger than the number suggests. At 6x3mm it lands near 0.30ct against the octagon’s 1.00ct at 7x5mm, so the pair sits around 1.30ct. Density shifts those figures a little either way, which is why we call them approximate. Both tips are set below the surface of the metal, where nothing can catch them.
925 sterling silver with 1 micron plating, in silver, yellow gold, white gold with rhodium or rose gold. Three years of colour is what to expect from that thickness. Rhodium asks the least of you and stops the silver tarnishing. Solid gold, 9K to 18K, is a made to order job.
Both stones are natural. Precious picks are eye clean A to AA, the semi-precious menu is loupe clean AA to AAA. US 6 to US 8.5.
