The Two Natural Gemstones Ring, Octagon-Pear, Curved Band sets an octagon stone and a pear stone side by side on a band that sweeps into a soft curve beneath them, so the two colours sit close together without a straight shank between them. It is a more sculptural take on our two-stone rings, in the same standard sizes. Made to order in our Bangkok studio.
Details and materials
Prongs hold each stone with small claws and leave the back of the gem open, which is why a transparent stone looks brighter here than in a closed setting. The octagon is 7 x 5mm, roughly 0.90ct. The pear is 6 x 4mm, roughly 0.40ct, so the pair sits near 1.30ct. Take those as close rather than exact, since coloured stones differ in density and millimetres do not translate straight into weight. Both gemstones are natural. Sapphire, ruby and emerald come eye clean at A to AA, and semi-precious material is loupe clean AA to AAA. Setting and band are 925 sterling silver with a 1 micron plating in silver, yellow gold, rose gold or rhodium white, which holds its colour about 3 years. Rhodium asks least of you.
