The Thailand Map Necklace is the country crafted as a small pendant, with one brilliant-cut diamond set into it. People buy it for the plain reason that they lived here, or they are about to leave, and they want to keep the place on them. It works because it is specific. Not a heart or a star, but this country. Made to order in our Bangkok studio.
Details and materials
The outline of the country is made small enough to sit flat at the throat, with one natural brilliant cut diamond set into it. The stone is 1.3mm, about 0.01ct. We buy G colour, VS to SI, so it stays clean to the eye at that size. Carat is quoted as approximate, since the same millimetre size gives a different weight once you move to coloured stones.
Pendant and chain are 925 sterling silver carrying a 0.5 micron plating. Silver keeps it quiet, yellow or rose gold plating makes the shape read from further away, and rhodium white lands somewhere in between. Reckon on 3 years before the plated colour wants attention, and rhodium needs the least thought since it also keeps the silver from tarnishing. Chains are 38cm, 40cm, 45cm and 50cm with a 3cm extender. Solid 9K, 14K or 18K gold to order. 7 to 10 working days, free inside Thailand, tracked courier abroad, 3 year warranty.
