The Two Natural Gemstones Ring in Octagon and Octagon is the symmetrical one. Two emerald cuts, same clipped corners, same step facets, set level with each other. Because nothing about the cutting differs, the only thing you are comparing is colour, which is exactly what people want when the two stones stand for two people. Set by hand in our Bangkok studio.
Quality you can feel
Solid 925 sterling silver with 1-micron plating in yellow gold, rose gold or white gold (rhodium). Both octagons are set level and evenly spaced so the pair lines up cleanly, with step facets that show colour and edges finished smooth.

Questions, answered
Why two of the same cut? So neither stone leads. Different cuts always make one look more important. Matched octagons put the two colours on equal terms.
Can the two stones be different sizes? We set them as a matched pair, that is the point of this design. If you want one larger, message us and we will tell you whether it can be done well.
How long does it take? Usually 7 to 10 days, made to your size.

Details and materials
Matched cuts are harder than they look. Both octagons measure 7 x 5mm, near enough 1.00ct apiece and around 2.00ct across the pair, and they have to sit at the same height and angle or the eye picks up the difference straight away. The seats are cut and levelled by hand rather than dropped into a mould. Take the carat figures loosely. Coloured stones vary in density, so the millimetre size is the honest measurement.
Grade depends on what you pick. Emerald, ruby and sapphire are eye clean at A to AA, tanzanite or tourmaline is loupe clean AA, and amethyst and topaz are loupe clean AAA. The ring is 925 sterling silver with a 1 micron plating in silver, yellow gold, rose gold or rhodium white, which holds its colour 3 years. Rhodium needs the least looking after.
