A threader earring does not hang off a hook. The chain passes through the piercing and settles on its own, so the letter sits just under the lobe and moves when you do. It is the quietest way we know to wear your initial.

Your letter, written in Thai

Tell us the English letter and we make the Thai character that carries it. A few of them map cleanly, a few share a sound with a second letter, and the picker shows you exactly which character you are getting before you order. It is your initial written in the alphabet of the country it was made in, which is a better thing to explain to someone than a monogram.

Metal and finish

Two ways to buy it. In 925 sterling silver, finished in silver, yellow gold, white gold with a rhodium plate, or rose gold. Or in solid 9k, 14k or 18k gold, where the colour is the metal rather than a coating.

The plating on the silver is 0.5 micron and holds its colour for roughly three years of normal wear, then it can be redone. Solid gold never needs that. If this is a piece you expect to still be wearing in twenty years, buy the gold. If you want the look now and the option to change your mind, the silver is the sensible one.

Sold one earring at a time

Each order is a single earring. Order two for a pair, or one if you are adding a letter to something you already wear. Two different letters, one in each ear, is a common order here and it works better than you would think.

What is a threader earring? A fine chain you pass through the piercing instead of clipping onto a post. It sits closer to the ear than a drop earring and it is easier to put in than it looks.

Can I have two different letters? Yes. Order two and pick a different letter on each.

Which Thai character will I get? The letter picker shows the Thai character beside every English letter, so nothing is a surprise.

Is it heavy? No. It is a fine chain with one small letter on it, and most people forget they have it on.

Can I wear it every day? Yes. Solid gold takes daily wear without any thought. Plated silver is fine too, it just wants taking off before the shower and the pool.
