The Natural 3mm Stone Prong-Set Necklace lines your stones up horizontally, each one lifted in an open prong setting. That matters more than it sounds. A prong holds the stone by its edges and leaves the back open, so daylight passes through the stone instead of stopping at a metal floor. Transparent stones look twice as alive this way. Made to order in our Bangkok studio.
Details and materials
Prong settings, not bezels. The 3mm natural stone is gripped at the edges and left open underneath, so daylight comes through the back instead of stopping on a metal floor. Clear stones gain the most from it. Figure on about 0.10ct at that size, give or take, since density is not the same from one coloured stone to the next.
Grades depend on what you choose. Emerald, ruby and sapphire are eye clean A to AA. Tsavorite and alexandrite are loupe clean AAA. Aquamarine, opal and rhodolite sit at AA to AAA.
The metal is 925 sterling silver with 0.5 micron plating, offered as silver, yellow gold, white gold with rhodium and rose gold. Plating is not solid gold. Colour on it lasts roughly 3 years with normal wear, and rhodium is the finish that asks least of you, because silver will not tarnish under it. Solid 9K, 14K or 18K is made to order. Chain lengths 38cm, 40cm, 45cm or 50cm, each with a 3cm extender.

Questions, answered
How many stones can I have? Most people go with two or three at 3mm. The row is sized to your chain. Tell us what you want and we will lay it out before making it.
Which stones look best in prongs? Clear, transparent ones. Sapphire, topaz, amethyst. Opaque stones gain nothing from an open back, so save those for the bezel version. Ask us if you are stuck.
How long does it take? Usually 7 to 10 days.
